It is never mentioned how long one cycle lasts, though it must be a minimum of 5 days.

Some mammals, e.g. sheep and goats, have oblong or stranger pupils. Both cats and foxes have those slit pupils (but lions don’t). Some kind of adaptation to hunting at night, I guess.
